6 Best Gay Bars and Clubs in Perth

22 February 2023

People often say the gay bars and clubs in Perth are pretty crappy compared to Sydney, Melbourne, or even Adelaide‘s nightlife. So when we visited Perth, we didn’t expect much. But when we actually went out for a drink and a boogie at the gay venues of Perth, we had a blast!

We visited them during Perth Pride it was absolutely buzzing. From silent discoes to riding mechanic penis bulls (which you’ll see if you keep reading this blog), Gay Perth did not disappoint.

So here are our best 6 gay and gay-friendly bars and clubs for you to try out yourself.

1. The Flaming Galah

By far our favourite new gay bar in Perth, the Flaming Galah has to be added onto your list of gay bars to visit.

Above is a picture of us with the owner, Lila. She decided to open up the Flaming Galah after someone on Facebook asked if there were any gay bars in Fremantle because they just wanted an inclusive place they could visit that made them feel safe. That’s what drove Lila to open the Flaming Galah, and now it’s our new favourite Fremantle hang out spot.

2. The Court - Gay Bar Perth

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Court. We even bumped into one of Charlie’s long-lost cousins from the UK here.

There was a silent disco happening on the ground floor, and people were having the best time. The drag shows were super fun… but the funnest part was watching Charlie ride a mechanical penis-bull and hold on for dear life. See our reel below.

The Court is becoming less and less exclusively “gay”, but rather a more inclusive bar that anyone can go to and have a boogie, which caters to the LGBTQ+ community.

3. Connections - Gay club Perth

The first time we walked past Connections, I swear it was like millions of gays were coming out laughing there heads of like they had the best night ever.

Connections is the main gay club in Perth that everyone visits, and for good reason: it caters to everyone. A place to dance the night away, a lounge to sit in and chat with your friends, and a terrace to sit back and enjoy the views of Perth. If you’d ask anyone “what gay bar or club in Perth should I visit?”, this is the spot.

4. Hula Bula Bar – Gay-friendly bar Perth

Charlie loves his cocktails. And if you do too, but you also want to feel a little more exotic while sipping them in a kooky Hawaiian style bar, this is the place for you. Hula Bula isn’t an exclusively gay bar in Perth, but it is definitely an LGBTQ+ space that is beloved and frequented by the LGBTQ+ community.

We absolutely love the decor and the mugs the cocktails come in… but above all else, go for the cocktails!

They were freaking delicious.

5. Tiki as FK - gay-friendly bar in Perth

Tiki as FK is cute AF. Again it’s not exclusively gay, but more a gay-friendly bar frequented by the LGBTQ+ community in the centre of Northbridge with a rooftop bar that has gorgeous city and sunset views. If we lived in Perth, we’d definitely come here often. It’s also right next to Connections night club so the perfect spot for a pre-drink.

6. Frisk Bar - gay-friendly bar in Perth

This gay-friendly bar has the most unusual AND delicious cocktail collection we tried in Perth. You have to come here to try the Banh Mi cocktail. The weirdest most delicious drink ever.
