We're Charlie & Michael

If you’re looking for travel inspiration, we’ve been traveling the world together since 2016 when we met in the UK. We love exploring the world together.

We got married in Denmark in 2017, and in June 2018 Charlie relocated to Australia so we could continue our lives together. In December 2020, we decided to quit our jobs and start traveling Australia while living in a van full-time.

On the road, we became known as the @husbands.thattravel and our gay travel blog was born so that you one day could plan a trip like this too.

LGBTQ+ Inclusivity Training for Tourism Operators

It’s a misconception that ‘everything is fine now’. LGBTQ+ travellers still experience microagressions or aren’t their full selves on holiday to avoid unwanted attention when they travel Australia.

We have created LGBTQ+ inclusivity training workshops based on quantitative and qualitative data from our 2022 survey of over 500 LGBTQ+ travellers in Australia. With this training you and your team will:

Understand LGBTQ+ experiences and anxieties when travelling
Learn how to ensure your experience and marketing activities welcome and include LGBTQ+ travellers

WE FLY TO EUROPE TOMORROW(!!!)….. FOR 3 MONTHS 🎉🥳

So we’ve been a bit quiet here because we’ve been trying to get all our content for Tourism Australia sent off before we left (90% done and we’ll keep you updated when it’s out!!), Charlie ran a super successful LGBTQIA+ inclusivity workshop with ALL OF NEW SOUTH WALES across 2 days, and I was making sure Jerry felt super loved before we abandoned him for 3 months ❤️

On top of that we’ve been planning our perfect return-to-where-it-all-began trip and we’re SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT WHAT’S TO COME! 😍

We’ll be:
🥾hiking 280km across northern Spain for 2 weeks staying in Albergues doing the Camino Norte! The reason we chose this is because the Camino is what actually brought us together as a couple (will explain more in due time) 😍
🏝️ island hopping in Greece from Santorini to Milos to Naxos with Charlie’s sister & her bestie 🏔️ hiking in northern Norway in the Lofoten Island islands (my dream destination for YEARS)
💍 celebrating with Charlie’s family for Charlie’s sisters wedding!

🥳HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUBBY MICHAELLLLL! 👨‍❤️‍👨🥳

Another year, another birthday together 👨‍❤️‍👨

We decided to spend an extra week in @queensland in @destinationgoldcoast for MICHAELS BDAY WEEK! 🥳🎉❤️

When we first started our IG account 2 years ago, it was actually here in the Gold Coast. We fell in love with the National Parks around the area, and we kept saying “I can’t wait to go back to Springbrook & Lamington” as we travelled Australia. So we always knew we’d come back here together, and after making content for Tourism Australia in Queensland seemed like the perfect time ☺️

So here’s a few pictures of the last time we were here, followed by a few pictures from our time right now. It’s so cool to see how far we’ve come in these two years and to spend this time together celebrating it! 😍

And so you can have the info of the spots we 100% recommend visiting, here they are: (&save for later)

🌲Springbrook National Park:
⭐️Do the Purlingbrook Falls Hike (last pic).
⭐️Go to Twin Falls
⭐️Warringa Pool for a dip

🌲Lamington National Park (our absolute favourite national park in all of Southern @queensland)
⭐️Elabana Falls (pic 5&6)
⭐️Moran Falls for sunset (pic 3&4)
⭐️And honestly every hike in the area, you can’t go wrong. We’ve done them but there is only so much room in a carousel!).

Because the drive to Lamington National Park is pretty far, you’ll want to stay over at @oreillysrainforestretreat. We camped in our van 2 years ago here for 3 nights so we could hike every day, and it was only $40 per night. But you can 100% upgrade (like we did) and stay in a villa overnight bcuz honestly the views and the infinity pool (pic 7&8) and the jacuzzi that you get (vid 9) in the villa, right next to all the walking tracks, are UNBEATABLE.

I HOPE THIS HELPS BUT FOR NOW IM GOING BACK TO MY HUSBAND TO CELEBRATE HIM. HAPPY BDAY AGAIN HUBBY 😍
