The 5 top Accommodations to stay at in Margaret River

23 June 2022

This blog will walk you through the 5 accommodation places we personally feel are the best to stay at in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.

When we were in the region, we were invited by the Margaret River and Busselton Tourism Board to travel create a gay and LGBT+ friendly itinerary for the area. We were were able to stay in such a diverse range of accommodations in Margaret River, Western Australia.

We stayed on a winery, a super cute cabin in the south of Margaret River, a luxury villa with kangaroos hanging in the backyard, and a glamping tent and cottage – both in the forest.

Read on to find out about our 5 best gay-friendly accommodation places in Margaret River Western Australia.

We stayed in Petit Eco Cabin for one night, and Jo and Chris (the owners) were so keen to help us promote LGBT+ media in the region. Jo even asked us to be included as Talent for a tourism campaign ran by Western Australia. That’s such a huge statement!

We will always hold Petit Eco Cabin close to our hearts.

P.s. This Margaret River accommodation has a fireplace and an outdoor tub too. What more do you need?

Margaret River accommodation in town centre - Margaret River Guest House

Margaret River Guest House is our favourite place to stay in the actual town centre of Margaret River.

Not only is it in a super convenient location, but as soon as we arrived, we felt like we were returning to the home we didn’t know we had in the Margaret River region. Lisa is now the nanna I wish I had.

When we spoke to Lisa, she told us that the majority of her guests are return visitors because of how welcome they feel.

At breakfast, we spoke to a couple who were proud parents of their transgender daughter. The fact that this was openly spoken about, between another guest, us, and the owners, at breakfast, made Margaret River Guest House such a special place in our eyes.

Take a look at this picture we all snapped together just to prove how special they are!

Forest Accommodation In Margaret River - Walk Talk Taste

If you’re looking for accommodation in the forest in Margaret River, Walk Talk Taste Gourmet Glamp has got you covered. Watch our YouTube video above to see the property in all its glory.

Kel invited us to stay at her luxury glamping accommodation for couples in Margaret River after reading our ABC article about the lack of LGBT+ representation in travel media.

She invited us solely to show her support for our mission to increase representation in travel media. She wanted us to relax, have a good time, and was grateful if we wanted to share tips on how she could really show the world that her place was the super inclusive space she believes every place should be.

Over breakfast, we told her that a good start was including LGBT+ representation in the travel images she uses on her webpage.

We said we’ve noticed that sometimes mainstream travel companies steer clear from including diverse representation in their media out of fear that their “mainstream” audiences will frown upon it.

Her response: “well I wouldn’t want those types of people to stay with me anyway”.

If you’re after a super inclusive romantic glamping experience in the forest of Margaret river, Walk Talk Taste Gourmet Glamp is the place to be.

Boutique chalet accommodation in Margarer River - Bina Maya Yallingup Escape

This luxury boutique chalet accommodation in Margaret River is for all, and has it all. It feels like it’s in the forest too – scroll right on the image above to see the property.

The location is great as it’s right next to Dunsborough and Yallingup, home to our favourite beaches in the Margaret River region.

The bath is also super luxury. Charlie was in the bath for over 2 hours, and I thought he drowned. When I investigated, turns out he was just having the time of his life reading his kindle with the candles on.

There were even kangaroos that come out out night in the backyard of the property!

Although Bina Maya is a self-contained accommodation in Margaret River, if you want food delivered to you, Sara has you covered.

Honestly, this place has it all and it’s suited to couples, families, and friends. We’d highly recommend it!

Margaret River Dog-Friendly Cottage - Karridale Cottages & Hop Farm

This cute little self-contained, dog friendly accommodation in the Margaret River is so freaking cute. The cottages are in the forest, between Margaret River and Augusta. There are walking tracks right outside your cottage, so if you want to wake up and go for a walk right from the accommodation in the forest of Margaret River, Karridale Cottages & Hop Farm are a good option.

When we shared this place on our socials, a few LGBT+ travelers that follow us responded with “this is my go to place in the Margaret River region!”.

P.s. this accommodation in Margaret River also has a fireplace, and is cheap! Did I say it was a dog-friendly accommodation too?
